Celebration Church, Toronto - Signficant Dates & Milestones

January 3, 2010 – Celebration Church called Rev. Alan Goh to be their minister
after a vacancy of fifteen months.

April 5, 2009 – Celebration Church moved back to the Toronto Police Association
building after attempts to purchase the Church of the Annunciation fell through.

October 5, 2008 – Rev. Peter Ma accepted a call to move to St. Andrew’s Church,
Markham. During this vacancy, interim moderators, Rev. Tom Eng and Rev. Walter
Hearn, led and shepherded the congregation.

May 28, 2006 – Celebration Church celebrated its tenth anniversary at China Buffet
King Restaurant.

June 29, 2003 - Celebration Church commissioned Sam and Linda Ling and family
as fulltime missionaries with Interserve and are stationed in Central Asia.

October 20, 2002 - Celebration Church moved to the Church of the Annunciation
on Florence Avenue, North York. This Anglican church would be home base for
more than six years.

June 10, 2001 - Celebration Church celebrated its 5th Anniversary at China
Buffet King restaurant. Almost 200 adults and children showed up.

January 1, 2000 - Celebration Church achieved self-sufficiency status as a
congregation within the Presbyterian Church in Canada and no longer relied on
grants from Canada Ministries.

August 17, 1997 - Celebration Church commissioned Richard and Alison Wong and
family as fulltime missionaries to serve in China.

March 16, 1997 - Celebration Church was constituted as a congregation in the
Presbyterian Church in Canada

February 9, 1997 - Celebration Church moved across the street to meet in the
Toronto Police Association building. The TPA facilities would become “home” for
the next five years.

May 26, 1996 - Peter Ma was ordained by the presbytery of East Toronto in the
sanctuary of Toronto Chinese Presbyterian Church and Rev. Peter Ma becomes
Celebration Church’s first minister.

March 24, 1996 - A small group of friends from Toronto Chinese Presbyterian
Church (www.torontocpc.com) met for
worship for the very first time as CPC North at the Ramada Inn on Yorkland
Boulevard.
